What does it mean to be a songwriter? To me it means making an important contribution to music. Knowing how to write songs is a gift. In the music business lyricists and composers are mostly unknown to the masses, because so much is built around the image of the performer. I imagine that most of you do not know who Andreas Carlsson is... See this review of his label, Meriola. I always mention this producer as the shining example of how unknown songwriters really are. The important thing is to create a well-structured song that holds up over the years so that with a new arrangement it becomes current again and can be a potential hit. Songs that go unnoticed at the beginning can be "fished out" many years later and become a planetary success. In the music world I have had highs and lows but have always stayed in the business. I started as a songwriter, composer and producer in the '90s dance scene, and then devoted myself to acid jazz and jazzy pop. My roots, however, lay in rock ballads and pop and pop-rock. Earnings? Usually far from six-figures ; ) I felt lucky that every once in a while something happened. For example, with just one single I managed to recover costs incurred over years of production. But generally the reward is personal satisfaction. Luckily I had a full-time job that gave me confidence and paid my bills and expenses. Songwriting can change your life in a few weeks or nothing can happen. In the end, though, I think that if someone has something to say they should be tenacious and persevere. At the same time, we must also move on and focus on precise goals and projects, keeping our expectations low, so that we are never disappointed. Songwriting is the most beautiful thing in the world, at least for me. It is work that requires a professional approach and technical mastery but also heart, poetry, sensitivity and imagination. |

Can I help you?
I can write lyrics in four languages (English, Italian, French, Spanish).
With my network of consultants I can also write in Portuguese, Swahili, Pidgin, Lingala and Creole. I once even tweaked the Japanese version of one of my songs.
I normally do not do versions of released songs in other languages even though I was asked to do this once and the result was very good (listen to the player below).

Modus operandi
a) I consider myself a craftsman, so my work tends to satisfy the client's needs first.
b.) My prerogative is speed (both in creating melodies and identifying the story, which develops in real time). My thirty years of experience guarantee a professional capability for synthesis and creating choruses and verses. I respect metric and I am a purist, therefore I do not like changing accents of words.
c.) Naturally I also work on developing third party drafts of lyrics and/or melodies.
d.) If I am asked to write a song from scratch, it is “woven” to fit the person who will interpret it. I start with a simple questionnaire and based on the information that I get I develop a genre and a story that works for that artist. By the end the song seems as if it were written by the artist him/herself.
e.) I am only interested in concrete projects which guarantee release of the product and promotion. I do not take other options into consideration.
f.) I have certain rules regarding Copyrights of the work. if you think so that I can be useful to your project, I need to know how many people are involved in the Copyright and how you would like to structure it.
g.) Normally I do not redeposit my works already registered with the SIAE.

Vocal trainer
The experience I gained over many years and with many singers led me to develop vocal techniques and postural exercises that make up my teaching method for singers with good skills or with some experience in the field already. It helps to improve performances in recording studios and on stage. This method is currently being perfected and eventually will be available as a workshop for musical associations and anyone else interested in learning my techniques.
